Job Summary:
Under general supervision and direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor/Lead, the candidate will be responsible for the coordination and performance of ultrasound procedures as ordered by the physician. They will provide assistance to the Radiologist/physicians as requested with the technical factors involved in such ordered procedures. The candidate will work with a dynamic team of high-risk Maternal & Fetal Medicine Specialists, Genetic Counselors, and experienced MFM Ultrasound Sonographers to enrich the candidates knowledge while gaining valuable work experience in a supportive, fast-paced, professional, and collaborative environment.

Job Essentials:

- Prepares room and equipment for ultrasound procedures.
- Cleans and disinfects ultrasound room and equipment after each exam and procedure.
- Prepares patient for ultrasound exams and procedures. Explains exams and procedures,
transfers patient to table, positions patient and assists patient at end of procedure. - Ensures that patients are as comfortable as possible during exam and while waiting for
transport before and after exam by providing blankets, sheets, pillows, etc. - Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
- Obtains complete clinical history and gathers pertinent clinical data of patient to aid in
diagnosis of exams. - Verifies procedure in Epic,& reviews any other special notes or comments (ex: prescriptions; ordering physicians, previous exams, etc).
- Maintains necessary supplies in ultrasound room.
- Prepares trays for procedures using sterile technique when necessary.
- Instructs students in the clinical/technical aspect of ultrasonography.
- Informs ultrasound supervisor of stock levels.
- Informs ultrasound supervisor of any problems with respect to equipment.
- Assists radiologist/physician during procedures when required.
- Schedules patients for exams and explains preparation to patient when necessary.
- Performs scans and is responsible to report any abnormality in patients study to
radiologist. - Position may require to cover multiple offsite locations including the Hospital.
- Interacts with the patient and responds to his/her needs within a context, which
recognizes the growth and development process, or the aging process of that patient. - Provides services to male and female patients of all age group.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- One year training in diagnostic ultrasound in a program approved by ARDMS.
License/Certification/Registry:
- RDMS required or eligible. If RDMS eligible must have RDMS certification within the
allotted time frame designated by the ACR.
