About the Role:
Under general supervision, and according to well-defined policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant/Receptionist assists in the delivery of primary health and patient care management, interviews patients and/or patients’ representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic, and financial information and identification. Performs routine clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, computer data entry, and other record-keeping tasks related to the patients’ registration within the registration areas. This position assists with the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and performs preparatory work on patients to ensure efficient use of the physician’s time. Experience with medical terminology and practice management systems preferred.

Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm/9:00am-5:00pm. Extended hours may be required depending on the office.
Responsibilities include:

Coordinate patient flow and scheduling by verifying insurance, checking in patients, preparing documents, and keeping appointments on time.

Support clinical care by taking patient histories, vital signs, performing phlebotomy/EKGs, and assisting physicians with exams, minor procedures, and wound care.

Maintain accurate records by updating patient demographics, insurance, and financial information in the EHR; scanning documents and managing patient files.

Ensure effective communication by greeting patients, handling inquiries, managing calls/messages, and demonstrating professionalism with patients and staff.

Prepare and maintain exam rooms by sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and supporting infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or equivalent or 5 years of Medical Assistant/PCT experience
- Completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistant/Patient Care Technician (PCT) preferred
- Current CPR Certification preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required for injection administration and medication documentation/ handling

Proficient in patient care procedures, medical equipment use, taking vital signs, administering treatments/medications, and maintaining a safe clinical environment

Skilled in maintaining medical records, using healthcare software, and applying healthcare administration principles to support efficient operations

Strong ability to communicate effectively, analyze information, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively with patients, staff, and the public to resolve issues and improve care
