Job Summary:
Provides safe, efficient and courteous care for all persons requiring transportation in Englewood Hospital and Medical owned or operated ambulances. Places patients on stretcher and loads stretcher into ambulance. Ensures safety of the patient at all times during the course of transportation. Supervises and assists other healthcare personnel with care during the transfer as well as with patient preparation. Must ascertain the need for specialized equipment. Insures that all patient(s), passenger(s), and equipment are properly secured in the vehicle. Uses knowledge and skill in the management of Specialty Care patients. Responsible for the overall clinical management of Specialty Care patients in cooperation with Medical Command staff and the patient's sending and/or receiving physicians during transport. Completes all necessary paperwork legibly and completely. Follows all EHMC and EHMC EMS policies and procedures.

Job Essentials:
- Oversee daily operations and direct patient care delivery for the SCTU, ensuring efficient service, accurate documentation, and effective communication with hospitals, dispatch, and medical command.
- Supervise and manage SCTU staff (EMTs, Paramedics, and ancillary staff), including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, discipline, and delegation of duties.
- Ensure compliance with Medical Center policies, departmental procedures, and state regulations, and participate in developing and updating operational policies.
- Maintain adequate staffing and operational readiness under the direction of the Director, including payroll oversight, staffing coordination, and supervision in the Director’s absence.
- Support quality improvement and operational oversight, including evaluating equipment/services, maintaining high customer service standards, ensuring accurate billing/records, and submitting required reports.
License/Certification/Registry:
- Must possess NJ State licensure as an RN
- Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) certification or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
- Possess certifications in: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the health care provider level; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or has successfully completed the ENPC to the standards of the ENA.
- MICN is required in those instances where SCTU is providing back-up 9-1-1 services.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of one year experience in Emergency Department or in Critical Care Nursing department
- Additional training in endotracheal intubation and has been deemed competent by the Medical Director.
Additional Skills:
- Excellent oral communication skills, including listening and questioning.
- Thorough working knowledge of critical care transport skills.
