Job Summary:
Provides patient services using the imaging modality of Nuclear Medicine. Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures at a technical level. Englewood Hospital employees throughout the medical center will use behaviors and interpersonal communication styles that are appropriate for a hospital environment and demonstrate courtesy, dignity and respect. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
At all times lives the values of the organization especially as they are expressed in the Service Excellence standards in performing the following:
- Prepares room and equipment for Nuclear Medicine procedures.
- Cleans and disinfects Nuclear Medicine room and equipment.
- Prepares patient for Nuclear Medicine procedure. Explains exam, transfers patient to table,
positions, patient, injects radioisotope and assists patient at the end of the procedure. - Ensures that .patients are as comfortable as possible during exam and while waiting for
transport before and after exam by providing blankets, sheets, pillow set, etc. - Provides appropriate information on images with respect to time, date and name, as required by a
specific procedure. - Prepares all isotope kits and disposes of unused isotopes, syringes, and vials.
- Checks for consents properly signed by patient or guardian. Checks for doctor's orders.
- Verifies procedure in Epic & reviews any other special notes or comments
- Observes patient and machine during procedures.
- Processes the acquired exam data for interpretation by radiologists.
- Monitors and disposes all radioactive syringes and vials when they reach the standard limits set
forth by the regulatory agencies and documents. - Monitors hands, body and feet on a daily basis.
- Records all isotope doses given to patients.
- Keeps accurate records of ail patient exams.
- Position may require to cover multiple offsite locations including the Hospital
- Aids radiologists in operation of equipment.
- Interacts with the patient and responds to his/her needs within a context which recognizes the
growth and development process, or the aging process of the patient. - Informs supervisor of any unusual occurrences with respect to the patient, equipment, and
events in the department. - Provides diagnostic studies and optimum patient care
- Monitors and records all radioactive shipments received by the department.
- Performs daily quality control procedures.
- Maintains the necessary supplies in Nuclear Medicine rooms.
- Must answer phones, schedule patients and be responsible for arranging this schedule.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- May be required to travel upto 10%, annually.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be graduate of an accredited program of Nuclear Medicine or BS program.
- Must be ARRT certified or eligible in Nuclear Medicine or a CNMT or eligible and hold a current NJ State License.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Potential exposure to ionizing radiation.
- Occasional heavy lifting of patients.
- Walking and standing 90% of the time.
