Job Summary:
Under general supervision, and according to well defined policies and procedures, the MA/MR assists in the delivery of primary health and patient care management, interviews patients and/or patients’ representatives to obtain necessary personal, demographic, and financial information and identification. Performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, computer data entry and other record keeping tasks related to the patients’ registration within the registration areas. This position assists with flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and perform preparatory work on patients to ensure efficient use of the physician’s time. Experience with medical terminology and practice management systems preferred.

Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.Phlebotomy and injections as ordered by the physicians.
Takes vital signs and documents in EMR/HER systems. Accuratley complete lab forms, package specimens for pickup and track lab results.
Check and document expiration dates on specimen kits, dispose and reoder new kits.
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Schedule appointments, check patients in and out, collect copays, retrieves messages from voice-mail system, retrieve faxes from onbase and properly route to providers or scanning into the EMR/EHR system and any other additional docements. Hand out history intake forms to new patient upon arrival and request medical records from OB physician offices.
Validate parking and arrange Uber Health services for patients in need.
Coordinate with the technicians and the physcians when a patient arrives late.
Provides general information on departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians, and ancillary departments in accordance with Service Excellence Standards.
Demonstrates appropriate and courteous telephone etiquette during telephone exchanges. Relays essential phone messages. Contacts physicians’ offices to exchange and gather information regarding patients.
Respects the privacy and confidentiality of each patient record.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices.

Participates in departmental quality assurance endeavors and in his/her own performance evaluation process.
Assists and performs other related duties as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
Assist transporting patients in the imaging suite and serve as the liason between patient and technologist.
Support cardiac patients by prepping EKG leads for stress studies alongside an APN.
Prep and inform patients for NM, holter and sleep studies.
Manage inventory that needs to be re-ordered in the storeroom and stock/organize medical supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent or 5 years of Medical Assistant/PCT experience
- Completion of an accredited program for Medical Assistant/Patient Care Technician (PCT) preferred
License/Certification/Registry:
- Current CPR Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)/Patient Care Technician (PCT).
