Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating the activities of personnel engaged in registration functions. Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the Patient Access Service. Manage staff for optimum performance.

Job Essentials:

  • Assigns duties to and coordinates activities of Registration personnel engaged in registering patients.
  • Ensures that timely registration of patients is completed accurately and cordially by performing quality assurance evaluation.
  • Ensures that pre-certification is performed on appropriate registrations.
  • Recommends hiring of, orients, trains, evaluates the performance of, and, when necessary, disciplines subordinate personnel.
  • Makes recommendations regarding changes in registration policies and procedures and monitors implementation and adherence to same.
  • Ensures staffing coverage in Registration areas.
  • When necessary, performs duties of open positions or of employees who are sick or on vacation.
  • Schedules, monitors, and approves employee time sheets via electronic time and attendance system.
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge base by attending appropriate educational seminars. 10. Holds monthly staff meetings and prepares minutes of meetings. 11. Determines staffing requirements; recruit, hire and train new staff.
  • Supervises direct reporting staff according to the policies of the Medical Center.
  • Delegates work duties to staff.
  • Monitors, evaluates and manages staff performance including performance reviews.
  • Coaches and disciplines staff; manages internal staff relations.
  • Provides oversight and approval of departmental payroll and pay rule practices.
  • Prepares reconciliation of POS cash collection for cashier's office.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports for administration as deemed necessary.
  • Around the clock on call.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.  


Education Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write in order to review patient registrations and prepare non-complex reports reflecting registration activities and deal effectively with various personnel at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school education. 
  • Approximately two years of related work experience is necessary in order to gain full knowledge of information required to complete patient registrations.
  • Interpersonal skills in order to effectively lead subordinate work group and interact with all levels of Medical Center staff, physicians, patients, insurance companies, etc. when dealing with registration process.
  • Analytical skills in order to resolve difficult registration problems and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures as well as interpret the same. 
  • Typing and CRT skills necessary.

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. Minimum rate: $23.00
