Englewood Health is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient Surgical Services team. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional inpatient care.
About the Opportunity
- Work in a hospital inpatient setting, including emergency room, inpatient floors, intensive care unit, and the operating room.
- The PA will manage inpatient rounding, perform bedside procedures, assist in the operating room when needed, and provide cross-coverage across a diverse range of surgical specialties during the night hours.
- Schedule: 3-4 shifts per week 7PM-7AM.

What your day will look like
Patient Care
- Obtain history and perform physical exams of new, follow-up, and post-operative patients in the inpatient setting and write appropriate orders.
- Conduct overnight rounds on floor patients to monitor clinical status, manage acute changes, and ensure patient safety.
- Work in collaboration with intensivists and surgeons to help manage the surgical issues in patients admitted to the intensive care unit.
- Order appropriate diagnostic studies and interpret laboratory data and imaging.
- Assist in emergency or urgent overnight surgical cases in the operating room across various surgical specialties.
- Perform bedside procedures within the scope of practice under the direction of the surgeons, including wound and drain care.
Collaboration and Supervision
- Maintain timely and appropriate communication with surgical and surgical subspecialty attendings.
- Collaborate with the broader surgical are team – including residents, fellows PAs, and advanced practice nurses (APNs) – to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the Chief of Surgery, who serves as the primary supervising physician.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program with a Bachelor’s degree
- Current NJ Physician Assistant License
- Current NCCPA Certification
- Minimum 2-3 years of Physician Assistant experience preferred
- Highly motivated graduates are welcome to apply
- Experience in inpatient surgical services perferred
- DEA and NJ CDS registration
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Must maintain board certification and CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Englewood Health offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, comprehensive benefits package, and other incentive programs for our employees. The rate shown reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position; actual pay will depend on several factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.
Minimum compensation: $120,000.00 per year
