GENERAL SUMMARY
The Network Engineer contributes to shaping, deploying, and maintaining the organization's
network infrastructure that will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our network systems, which are vital to patient care and hospital operations.
Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving intricate network issues, contributing to the execution of network projects, creating and enforcing network policies, and keeping accurate and up-to-date records of network systems and configurations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, configure, and manage network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize the network to support critical healthcare infrastructure
- Maintain and update network diagrams, documentation, and configurations.
- Implement and enforce network security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Regularly review system logs to identify potential security breaches or vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with the IT security team to perform periodic risk assessments and penetration testing.
- Provide technical support to resolve network-related issues reported by users.
- Perform routine maintenance, backups, and updates to ensure network reliability.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement, installation, and repairs.
- Assess current network performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Research and recommend new technologies to enhance network efficiency and scalability.
- Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects, including migrations and upgrades.
- Ensure network systems comply with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including user guides, SOPs, and incident reports.
- Perform other duties assigned by management
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- 3+ years of experience working with Cisco network hardware, including switches, routers, wireless controllers, cabling and other networking devices; preferably in a healthcare environment
- VXLAN knowledge is a plus
- Strong hands-on experience with configuring and maintaining enterprise network hardware
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer, etc.) preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is an onsite position
- Heavy lifting of up to 50lbs.
- Work outside regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
- Travel to remote offices and data centers as required to support network operations and upgrades
- Participate in on-call rotations
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to IT Network Manager
Englewood Health provides a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
