Job Summary:
The Lead Unified Communications Engineer functions as the primary subject matter expert for the operations, support and implementation of the Unified Communications platform, PBX system and other internal Telecom applications and solutions.

Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) regarding technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable advanced UC on premise and cloud based operating models.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of Unified Communications systems (VoIP, PBX, video conferencing, messaging platforms, etc.).
  • Manage and mentor UC engineers and support staff to ensure efficient and effective operations as well as provide escalation support for complex issues.
  • Coordinate with network, infrastructure, and security teams to maintain seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Lead UC-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, ensuring timely and successful execution.
  • Establish and enforce UC policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for system support, licensing, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and training materials.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations.
  • Develop services for improving availability & performance of the production systems.
  • Proactively monitor system performance and outages.
  • Promote best practices and transfer technical knowledge to department members.
  • Provide timely troubleshooting support for UC infrastructure in alignment with third party vendors.
  • Provide reports and present data as requested by IT management.
  • Hardware procurement and asset management.
  • Attend product and technology training as required.
  • Provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
  • Provide assigned on-site support during go-lives and system upgrades. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (required)
  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years focused on Unified Communications systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects or teams in a UC environment.
  • Proficiency with platforms such as Avaya Communication Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Zoom, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of VoIP, SIP, PBX, QoS, and network fundamentals.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work beyond normal business hours
  • Proficient in planning and estimating the work effort, proactive escalation for assistance, and good organization
  • Professionally manage time between daily tasks and projects.

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.
