Job Summary:
The Credit and Insurance Representative is responsible for notifying insurance companies of emergency admissions. Verifies insurance benefits for emergency admissions. Performs financial counseling functions for patients who do not have any insurance or inadequate insurance coverage.

Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm. Saturday, 7:00am-3:00pm. Some holidays.
Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.
- Obtains all necessary demographic and insurance information from patients who are admitted as selfpay. This includes visiting patients in their rooms.
- Notifies insurance companies of emergency admissions and same day patients who are admitted. Notifies insurance companies of newborn admissions.
- Verifies insurance information received from patients listed as self-pay.
- Verifies insurance information on all emergency admissions.
- Has a thorough knowledge of various insurance plans.
- Counsels patients who do not have insurance. This includes completion of charity care application, guarantees of payment, retrieval of income and asset information, referral to outside public assistance programs and establishing payment arrangements.
- Collects deposits on self-pay admissions and insurance deductibles and co-pays on emergency admissions.
- Enters all comments from discussions with patients or insurance companies into the online Patient Accounting system.
- Scans forms and ID's into RASI system.
- Demonstrates Service Excellence Standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions in order to review HDX insurance verification responses and other pertinent documents.
- Interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, insurance companies, public assistance agencies, and other departments within the hospital. Ability to function independently.
- Typing skills are necessary.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask.
Minimum rate: $18.50
